Started to tear down the engine to replace the head gasket. I have the FSM at my side and it shows a air tube for california cars on the intake and says to remove it before removing intake.
My question is, can the intake be removed with the air tube attached or must it be removed first? I can't really see where the air tube fits in as space is limited. I assume it goes into the intake somewhere. I was running out of daylight yesterday so I will try again today. I did not look from underneath the car yet to see if it is accessible from there. Just want to know how to proceed.
Thanks again for the help..

I don't know if you have to remove it to remove the intake manifold, but I don't think it is possible to remove the air tube and wire clamp from above. You can get at if from below.

Thanks, I just figured that out earlier, got underneath and I could see what is going on. It was better to remove the tube so I didn't have to mess with the power steering hoses attached to it.
And why are there power steering hoses attached to an emissions device.:screwy:
Also, In order to remove the manifold, the fuel rail had to come off first. No mention of that in the FSM :runaround: Just the kind of things you run into working on cars.:crying:
Anyway, hope to get the head off tomorrow.
Stay tuned for updates..
