104,000 miles
4 L
I just bought this, previous owner told me about erratic hesitation. After a few days this has happened along with stalling. Did trip check engine which Advance Auto let me read myself.
PO357
PO420
I reset codes.
Here are the stats;
Previous owner replaced.
catalyt converter
O2 sensor
coil
MAP sensor
I have done.
plugs
wires
dist cap and rotor
coil
air filter
mystery oil
clean throttle body
I thought for sure this would be it because plugs, cap and rotor were very bad shape.
I notices the computer is remanufactered Mopar.
I unhooked battery and pulled plugs from computer and reinstalled.
Well I have searched posts and not sure where to turn, computer? fuel pump?
It kinda seems like it runs out of gas, has stalled at idle, driving slow and may hesitate at hwy speed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, lots of new parts, that should help things run longer.
Check under the regular Cherokee forum for "Crankshaft Position Sensor". On your model year they are prone to fail and become intermittent after about 90k miles. It's a pretty easy fix if you have a long extension.

Well changed CPS and so far so good. Was not as hard as I feared. Thanks for the help and the resources of this forum.

I got one from auto zone for a 97. it lasted for about 6 months. got the second one from the dealer....lasted much longer. you have to be careful with sensors from parts stores. they are not designed to last long...thats why they are so cheap.

Back to square one. After running perfect for 5 days it stalled 3 times on the way home, each time while I was coming to a stop. One time it did not want to start right away.

Did wiggle test on connections to PCM, that was it, was able to stall it by wiggling connection closest to firewall. Wire ties for now.
