gas gauge always full

My 1998 venture 126000k gas gauge always reads past full. When you first turn on the key the gauge moves a bit then right back to full. I check for corrison under van at connector there was a very little bit. I cleaned it up and treated it. I replaced those wires the one from the connector to the fuel pump about 3 years ago with new one from GM.

Today i ohmed the black/white wire and purple wire and it read about 234 with a full tank of gas. I shook the van side to side and it varied from 225 to 240. I'll check later in the week to see if it varies more. The correct reading should be 40-240 ohm from what i read in a pontiac post.
