Hey guys I have a friend that just did a swap on an 82' mustang that left him with an extra 302 high output lying around, and I was wondering if it would be worth the hassle to put his old engine into my 93' T-bird LX (3.8, non supercharged, auto). How much fabrication would be necessary to drop the 302 in? I know it wouldn't be a bolt in job, but what all would be needed to do it? The ideal tranny for this project? What rear end work be needed to handle the extra HP?
Also, I plan on redoing/upgrading the suspension anyways regardless of if I swap, so any recommendations on shocks and springs would be appreciated as well.
Thanks!

It's normally not worth the time and money to change a 6 to an 8. You'd be better off selling your car and buying one with a V8, if that's what you really want. If you are determined to make the swap, in the upper right of the main page click on Search this Forum and enter engine swap. From what I've read, besides upgrading the suspension to handle the extra weight, you'll need the computer and wiring harness for a V8 and a fat wallet amongst other things! Good luck and if you accomplish the feat, post back here to tell others how you did it and what problems you had to solve.

Hes right its not really worth it you can find the V8s pretty cheap now days I got my sc in near mint condition 5 years ago for 1500 (interrior excluded from mint lol). I've owned every model MN12 and its just better to buy the one with the engine you want then upgrade it. Your looking at a lot of down time for a swap like this to so not for the current daily driver.
