Questions about photo-etched parts

Often some photo-etched producers don't spend enough time on good instructions. E.g. like AcuStion which has a lot of photo-etched parts without good instructions. I suppose that this thread could be useful for guys like me who doesn't find detailed instructions.

For example, photo-etched parts for Lotus Super 7. The instructions manual is in Japanese - that's not problem - I've recognised it and translated, but anyway no luck with understanding what to use with. Especially I would like to understand where and for what can be used circles under the brake-discs + 16 round logos on the photo-etched sheet.

hi firun,

ah acustion..... well i got a set from them for the 1/24 porsche 935, and i got the same problem and then i figured that acustion puts in a lot of double parts so if something goes wrong! or to make a choice for what you will use (with the porsche there are two kinds of seatbelt's while there's only one seat!,lots of round bits for what i dont know what they are for) and some stuff is there to fill up the etched fret and these parts you can use with other models

the bits under the brake-disks are for the dashboard cauges

thijs37, thanks for your reply!

As we figured out the circles in this photo-etched are for the dashboard...

Large circles are for the wheels, and the small circles are for the steering wheel.

Eight of the sixteen disks look like they might be horn buttons. The other eight look like hubcaps!

But which eight? There lies the question. I'd go with hirofkd's answer. A check of the fit ought to confirm that.

It's interesting - we think of hubcaps as big chrome disks that cover the entire wheel, but early hubcaps were little cups that covered only the hub.

Sometimes little rings like those are intended as taillight mounts.

I believe the large logo badges are meant to go on the center of the actual hubcaps that comes with the kit.
