It's probably just a bad bulb in the door.

Uhhhhh, no. None of the interior lights come on when the driver door is opened. They will come on when any other door is opened. There has to be a switch somewhere to activate the lights from the driver door when it is opened.

The switch is probably built into the door locking mechanism.
see http://www.alldata.com
this is great material if you are a fleet tech / etc...
my opinion this alldata is way too expensive for simple repairs like a door light..

the problem is ,,,, driver door open no interior lights ?
when the other doors are open no problem ?
If this is the condition the mini wedge driver door jamb switch is bad or the wires are open to it..
the grounding out of this wire with the door open grounds the bcm input ..the bcm then turns on this interior lights..
this door switch is in parrallel with other switches , so the bcm is not defective..

Also the old Ford pickup fix lube the door latch may help.
