I have a 1996 golf VR6 and I think I am having ground issues. I put a new head one the engine but before i did that I took it completely out. Now it is all put back together. The fuel pump isn't getting consistent power. Also it is only getting one spark. When I hook up the battery the fuel and temp. gauge bounce like crazy and the ABS and low fuel light stay on. I checked all the grounds in the engine bay and on the computer and I cleaned them all and it is still doing this. It started once and ran for a few minutes until i pushed on the throttle and then it died. Has anyone had a problem like this or think they can help it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Was there a ground wire from the fire wall to the head?

No there isn't but I hooked a ground from the fire wall to the upper intake manifold and it did the same thing.

The fuel pump is probably being turned off @ a certain psi, by the fuel regulator.
The ignition module canbe tested at a local Auto parts store.

Is the ground from the transmission upper middle bolt connected to the battery? Did you check the ground under the battery tray, its for the cluster abs and ful pump.
