Living green means living a life devoid of all the factors that destroy the environment by pollution. The outrageous fuel costs and the pollution that the fossil fuels create has made people think about the alternative options to heat homes, drive cars and do all day to day energy related works without using fossil fuels. A genuine global movement has been going on across the world promote green energy and to educate people about the benefits of using green energy resources.

Countries like US have started taking issues like climatic changes seriously, and have started developing green energy resources to replace the pollution creating fossil fuels.

Let’s take a look a few of the beneficial factors behind ‘going green’.

Go green & save a bundle – Going green will help Mother Nature as well as reduce your monthly expenses. This is the best possible way to create a clean environment for the future generations.

Go green to save the entire region around you – The first thought that comes to our mind while thinking about ‘going green’ is about our home. But there is so much more to think, apart from our domicile. We can do a lot more at all the places that are associated with us, in one way or the other. We can use environment friendly resources like sunlight and wind to extract energy needed for offices.

Going green helps to change the perspective of people towards the way energy resources should be used. You can use energy saving fluorescents and install solar panels and wind generators for a lucrative energy usage.

Maybe if you change "devoid" to "avoiding" you'd be on track. If you live in a house, shop at the farmers market, ride your bike instead of a car your life is not "devoid devoid of all the factors that destroy the environment by pollution", you are just lessing your impact on the environment.

Along these lines, does anyone here know what the "greenest" city in the US or Canada is?

People living in that concrete jungle have the smallest carbon footprint, mostly by not needing to use cars, and living in a very densly populated place, where infrastrucutre is used very efficiently.

Short of us all committing suicide, the answer is "sustainable" living, where we have a negative impact on the enviornment, but it can be offset indefinitely by other, positive factors.

I'm actually quite proud of my enormous carbon footprint. Back in the mid 70's they were concerned about global cooling. Al Gore figured out he could make more money on the false premise of global warming. Global warming was prooven to be a hoax so he and his wacky followers tucked their tail between their legs and started calling it climate change. Now you don't even hear about that in the news much anymore. I guess they realized we're not as stupid as they thought we were. Now all we have to do is get rid of the cap and tax laws that the wackos are talking about. Another 10 days and the toilet will flush, giving a socialist swirley to a load of crap.

So far, sea otters are getting poisoned, strip mining is used for cat litter, the only real threat is hog waste. Lessee here, oh hey`there's more :tongue:, all the packaging waste from pet foods, and let's not forget the plastic toys and any drugs used to treat a sick animal.

Can't I shoot my neighbors instead?

I have a family of three, plus three pets. I fill my recycle bin and put it out to the curb every other week. My trash can, I take it down every other week as well, but could easily go three weeks a rotation because it's hardly full.

My neighbors, have a household of two. They have three trash cans, and one recycle bin. The three trash cans are on the curb, every week, full.

Who generates more waste?

I can't save the world, nor do I want to. I think the world needs some cleansing anyways. All I try to do is lessen how much waste I dispose of, and try to reuse more. Mainly though because it saves some money...

I think this would be the perfect time to pull out the gas mileage of my car as-well.... 11.8mpg...... with mostly highway driving..... 7mpg snow drifting for a half-hour at a time is always a fun way to save the planet aswell

Ha, I also commute to work round trip in the neighborhood of 75 miles.

I really don't get how some families can accumulate so much waste. My guess is that they rely on more processed and prepackaged foods, in turn creating more waste.

The best is when traveling in the South Eastern US seeing the amount of trash piles in the back woods and national forests. That's a real joke there.
