You need to purchase a new harness if you want to replace the part connected to the plug. Purchase a good used plug with enough wire to get to good wire. Walmart sells some connectors with thread plugs on the ends they provide a good connection use silicon to coat the ends.
They have a tapered bar and the wire goes around it and the plastic threaded ends lock the wire in place. They give a good chance of a lasting repair.
If you solder them you need a work station as with excessive heat the wire will break next to the solder joint.
