4.3 Vortec, no injector signal

Ok, So my 2000 S10 4.3 has spark, fuel pressure (62psi) but it does not have injector signal. I have replaced the Distributor pickup and the ECM as advised by a stealership... It will run if you hit it with starting fluid. We checked the injector connector with node lights and they do not flash. We check them on my friends 4.3 Bravada and they flashed like crazy. I am at a complete loss here. Anyone have any answers???

If the engine starts and continues to run with a shot of starting fluid, that's a classic symptom of low fuel pressure. Key ON, engine OFF, fuel pump running: fuel pressure must be 60psi to 66psi and must remain above 55psi for 3 to 5 minutes after the fuel pump shuts off.

The sensor in the distributor is the camshaft position sensor and it has nothing to do with fuel injector pulse width, or ignition spark.

Is the Service Engine Soon light on when the engine is running? If so, what DTC's are stored?

There are no DTC's stored. It's a new computer and the truck hasn't run since it was installed. It will only run if it is being sprayed with starting fluid. The second you stop spraying... it dies. Fule pressure is 62psi at the check valve and it drops to 57 when cranking.

Sure sounds like the injectors are not being pulsed while cranking or running. Have you checked all fuses, (both terminals) with a test light or volt meter? Especially the "ECM 1" 15 amp fuse in the under hood fuse panel. At the injector connector, just behind the throttle body, each pink wire must show battery voltage when the ignition is in the RUN and START positions.

Fuel pressure with the ignition in the RUN position at 62psi is OK. The reason it drops while cranking is because available voltage is reduced at the fuel pump while cranking and could be due to a weak battery or poor connection, but it's NOT what's causing the no start condition. More importantly, what is the fuel pressure leakdown? Does it remain above 55psi after the pump shuts off?

A couple of other possibilities:
When the ECM is replaced, it must be flashed with a capable scan tool. Try the original ECM again and see if you have the same results when spraying starting fluid in.

There may be a problem with PasslockII which disables the injectors if the system detects a possible theft. The ECM disables them by not sending a pulsed ground signal to them, the pink wire should still show battery voltage.

ECM was flashed with the current GM flash with my VIN code and all specs, also it is the same service tag number and has Anti-theft delete. All fuses good. Did not check the pink wires. Didn't know that. Passlock II could be a problem... my key can be pulled out while it's running. We will see how it goes. Thank you.

I've seen a few cars that had keys that were in need of replacement that caused a passlock system to activate.
