I have a 1991 Towncar stalled a few times at stop lights over course of a couple of months. Now it is running rough at idle and stumbles and bucks while driving. It seems to come and go, when it does the check engine light comes on then goes out. Today I started it and it idles rough, at idle I checked for vacuum leaks, none found. Plugs and wires are a little more than 6 months old. It shows no codes. It has about 120,000 miles on it. I had fuel and air filter changed 2 months ago. I also cleaned the throttle body today made no difference. I am the second owner of the car and been driving it for 5 years without any problems other than a water pump and brake service. I have been keeping up with oil changes and tune ups pretty regular too. Any way it is running like crap all the time now.
Anyone had this problem with one of these?

Fuel Filter.
Did that about 2 months ago during a routine service. That will usually show on highway driving before it gets to being an idling problem.

I would change the fuel filter again, how ever. a tip that I recommended to others as I do it to my 95 is to have the fuel filter off, and find like a 2 liter bottle and put the fuel line from tank into it. CAREFULLY cycle the ignition or have some one else so you can keep your eye on the line and bottle. This will get any crap from the tank to the filter out. You might have some build up or something.. A good way to see how dirty your tank is, is to remove the filter, with the IN side of the filter sitting inside a 20 oz bottle, pump air into it from the OUT side of the filter. You will see all the crap the filter caught. I do it every time just to see...

That doesn't mean it isn't clogged again; only that you changed it recently. If you gas tank has debris in it, a new filter can and will get clogged until that situation has been rectified.
