Looking at buying Pontiac 6000 that is priced right (because the poor guy can't get it to start). It appears to have fuel pressure at the valve on the manifold when released. Checked for spark at one of the plugs and nothing so I'm blaming the problem on coil pack though I've not had a lot of experience with these things.
I've read through some of the threads on no start. Noted that crankshaft sensor could be cause as well.
Any thoughts? All comments welcomed and appreciated.
Oh, btw, this I believe is a 2.8 engine. Would the coil pack be the same as 3.1 on a '91 Lumina? Just wondering If I might use some parts off it to troubleshoot.
Thanks

Check with a parts store on the ign module interchange. As you said could be either, a scan would look at cranking rpms. if none that is the cps. Look at all the fuses also.

Meant to get back to the thread last night. Picked up the car Thursday night. Started checking early Friday. First thing I did was pull the crankshaft sensor. There was no continuity from the two pins so immediately suspected this was the problem. Obtained a used one from the wrecker and bingo, running in seconds. Spent the rest of the day cleaning it up and fixing couple wires in the door jam for the power locks. Outside of a little rust along the bottom this should be a heck of a car especially for the money I had to put up. The previous owner did a LOT of repairs but finally threw in the towel when it failed to start late winter day.
