This will probably piss someone off, but personally i don't care. I am a mechanic, I work on cars 5 days out of the week. Don't get me wrong i love vehicles and i love working on them. What i don't like is every day working on a dodge or a ford. It is all I see all day long. So My question is simple why can't dodge and ford build a vehicle that i don't know RUNS maybe. Then you look them up on the computer, and they have high reliability ratings. I work on these things everyday and i have never seen one that was reliable.

I am assuming you are joking, right?

If you aren't.......um...... it makes sense that you only see vehicles that need work. People are not going to send perfectly good cars to a mechanic.

If you want to see reliable Fords and Dodges, look around you as you drive. :)

ok you completely missed the point. my point is that out of all the car makers, the ones i work on the most are ford and dodge. Which means to me that ford and dodge are pieces of crap. On a daily basis i have to fix at least 1 of them. It wouldn't bother me if they had some age on them, but they don't we are talking about cars that aren't even 3 years old yet. By the way i do look around me and seems to me the only reliable fords i see are ummmm, no wait if they setting on the side of the road they aren't reliable so never mind.

Errrr....where do you work? Is this a Chevy or Toyota promo?

There's a Mercedes tech on here, he only works on Mercedes so if he took the same point of view as you, he'd say that Mercedes suck and are unreliable. I guess I'm not getting your point.

But....it must be frustrating to always work on the same vehicles. Soon you'll be an expert though, if there's a consistent problem you'll know about it.

I wasn't promoting any vehicle over another lol. I am just a general mechanic, I work on anything that happens to role into the shop that day. I was Just pissed the day i wrote that. It just bugs me that people buy vehicles expecting them to run, and 3 months later they are setting in my shop with some stupid problem wrong with them. That isn't right and if i were a car maker (e.g. dodge and ford) i would be ashamed to put my name on one of them. I'm not saying they don't make good vehicles. I am saying that I end up fixing them more frequently than any other vehicle.

Some of the problems i see on vehicles under 3 years old is quite shocking. I recently spoken to the owner of a Vauxhall Vivaro with 30k on the clock that had 4 injectors, a fuel pump and a few other things. Ok its got warranty but that does not last forever.
Then it was my job to fit 2 front lower suspension arm ball joints. Honestly those bottom ball joints couldnt last longer than 30k?.

I agree with the rant - I own a ford.

Me too. I've heard that Henry Ford said "I'll give you the car for free if you buy the parts to fix it from me"
