It's back ! I had the solenoid replaced about 2 months ago and everything was fine. It sat in a parking garage for the last 3 days and the check engine light came on soon after I started it. The transmission was in limp mode again, so I stopped and got the code P1763. It seemed to come out of it on the 85 mile trip home. Tonight it will only start in second gear and no passing gear, the only way I can get it to a lower gear is to shut off the O/D Is this built in or added on ? What do I do next ?
Thanks for any help !

Update

I also had a new IAC installed as the idle would fluctuate everything was fine a couple of months then everything started screwing up again. I just came back in from cleaning the battery terminals and the ground strap from the engine. I started it up and the idle was great and the check engine light was off.. am I on the right track?

Thanks

did they replace the solenoid and the govenor pressure sensor or just the solenoid? i normally replace them both at the same time

if the pressure sensor is ok then i would check the conditon of the electical connector on the transmission and look and broken or shorted wires, when the wires break inside the insulation it can be tough to track down

I had both replaced. The last 2 days it has shifted with no problem and the check engine light went out. I checked the wiring and couldn't see anything chafed or pinched anywhere. It is very frustrating.. I want the old days when it was broke it was broke ! What do I do next ? I have to drive to WV for a month in August and don't want to have to replace a transmission while I am down there !

since its an intermittent problem its most likely electrical the next step would to pull the pan and inspect the wiring to the solenoid and pressure sensor and check the pin tension on their connectors theres a lot of places in there for the wires to rub through or possibly be damaged its a pain in the butt to do and very messy but i think thats the next step. when the problem does happen you should still be able to manually shift the trans from low to drive so the cars not bogging down when your trying to accelerate from a stop

Thanks ! I did notice something else, when the check engine light comes on my idle is very erratic. I did have the IAC changed thinking that was a problem too. I also noticed on cruise control, (with the check engine light off) the torque converter seems to unlock and the revs will go up 2 or 3 hundred. Could the TPS have anything to do with that ? What about vacuum leaks? I am just trying to eliminate everything before dropping the pan again... Thanks again !

yes the tps could very well be a problem related to all those issues

Well I couldn't get the )(*&*#%% torx screws loose on the TPS so I had to take off the throttle body. I unhooked all the wiring and the throttle cables and unbolted it. The gasket was very brittle and had cracks in it. I did replace the gasket and the TPS. Then cleaned the throttle body and it seems to run a lot better and hopefully this will keep the transmission working. I will update next weekend! Thanks to everyone who helped ! This site is awesome !

Update

I changed the TPS and so far so good! I have put over 600 miles on it in the last month and it shifts and idles great ! However.. lets keep this quiet so I don't jinx myself !!! Seriously thanks everyone for the help.
