wires from harness? i do have the jumper install at reg.
3] motor is early 70 maybe 73-74, oil port in back of block to install meter,if i also want the light to work , where can i install a sensor ?

#1 You will need to switch out the resistor wire, if you do not, then you will have problems with the engine not wanting to start up again after turning it off. You can run a constant 12+ wire from the fuse panel to the key switch then from the key switch to the 12+ terminal on the distributor cap. Make sure that the wire to the distributor cap is sending 12 volts to the caps terminal with the key in both run and start positions.

#2 Yes, you can eliminate all those wires as well as the voltage regulator. The easiest way, I've found for my self is to, seperate all the charging system wires from the lighting wires. And the eliminate them one at a time...I cut them off at the firewall fuse block.

#3 There is a kit that can be purchase really inexpensively at almost any parts store, and the kit will allow you to run a T fitting at the same location as the sensors original location...this way you don't have to do any cutting to the wiring harness.

I hope that helped.

Run a heavy gauge wire at least a #10 to the HEI. Less voltage drop that way. you will not be sorry. Change the plugs to the appropiate gap required by the HEI. Points were usually .035 while HEI were .045- .060 gap.

hope this helps

thanks for the help, quick question, doesn't the current wire run 12 volts?
i did't think about the gap, thanks, i look around and cannot find a oil sensor that will run both, the port in the block is a 1/8 pipe, behind dist.
i would like idots light to work and guage at the same time.any ideas?

Change the resistor wire to copper, but save the piece of resistance wire since it is getting harder to find. You can connect your new wire to the same socket on the bulkhead connector on the firewall that the resistance wire is currently using:

There should also be an oil gallery plug on the LH side of the block above the filter pad. The biggest problem is usually getting the plug out since the factory really buried them in there with the ¼" square recess. If you can remove the plug you can use the port (where I have the brass plug installed) for either the lamp or pressure switch.

You can use an arrangement of 1/8" pipe "Ts","ELBOWS", "NIPPLES" to suit your application. The larger HEI unit hinders a straight forward installation somewhat but it can be done. There is probably commercial adapters available also. Check the internet. Remember to use some thread sealer on the pipe threads. You also might check to see if anynone still makes a brass or aluminium block drilled & tapped for 1/8" pipe threaded ports that would be suitable.

HOPE THIS HELPS

that is exactly what i needed, i did't see that port,or "remember"
when i undid the resitor wire from the harness, i notice a small loop in the wire about foot from coil connector, what is that? and thanks for the help alot!
