Swap 4l60E from 2001 silverado to 1999?

Long story, got a trans with an odd shift sometimes, that works fine mostly, out of a 2001 5.3 4x4 Silverado 1500, looking to put it in a 1999 5.3L 4x4 silverado 1500 wood hauling beater. Can anyone tell me if it'll work? Interchange says 1999-2000 are same, 2001 diff, 2002 diff. But, most rebuilds say any 1999-2004 will work. Is the computer different or something? I don't want to put it in and take it right back out as an experiment if I don't have to. Thanks.

If it's a 1999 new body model I don't see why it wouldn't work?

Physically, it will fit fine. However, the electrical connector is different. The solenoids are different. There is a valve body and separator plate difference so simply changing a few easy parts won't help. You can change the lower valve body, separator plate, checks, and filters, and install a different wire harness and make it work with the newer PCM, but if you go that far you might as well just repair the original trans unless the case is damaged. You can go end-to-end with new wear parts and seals for under $200.00.

If he still has the 99 trans he can transfer parts, not that big of a deal.

im butchering a 01 4l60e to a 99 4l60e. i swaped the pump, input and output shaft and did it by the book. everything fit fine and just put the tranny back in the truck... with the driveshafts removed the trans spins fine but seams to be in 3rd, put it into reverse and still spins like its going forward. put the rear drive shaft on for kicks and giggles and did not have enoughf power to move, i concluded the tc wasnt locking up. tc worked the day before from a different truck. (im sure the tc that is in there is the correct for this application) i tested for 12v+ input and it there. tested resistance for the tcc and got 20ohms like it should be so the tcc is working just fine,, checked the brake switch, no problems there, im thinking that the stator bushing in the pump might be bad or the holes on the input shaft arnt lineing up to alow fluid passage.. any ideas? this is my first 4l60e rebuild but not the first trans ive overhauled, ive done m5od, e40d and 4r70w, i really dont want to drop the trans back out again as it is a pain in the @$$ to get to the top bolts(easier to take the intake manifold off type of pain lol) anything in the valve body perhaps?

All 4L60E transmissions at present will swap right in. The TCM and wire harness is one thing that every vehicle with a 4L60E has in common.
But 4L65E, 4L70E, and 4L80E transmissions are similar but require some parts swapping to make them work.

Pull codes if the SES/CEL came on. If not, I would check the valve body, servos, and solenoids next.

Have a question we have a 99 4x4 Suburban with a 5.7L and a 4L60E
We have a 99 4x4 Silverado with a 5.3L and 4L60E
Our questions do any of y'all know if we ca use the Transmission off the 5.7L and it hook up to the 5.3L with no issues?
The Silverado transmission doesn't have 2nd gear so looking to just swap them out if possible .

A 4WD 4L60E from the same year should bolt in and be compatible with the PCM.
You may have to exchange the bellhousings to accommodate the starter mounting, engine bolt and dowel pattern, and flexplate depth, but either will bolt to the front of the trans.

as was mentioned years ago on this post if the connector fits it will work. since your changing a OBS to the NBS 5.3L silverado I doubt the connector will be correct. Gm does a lot of changing with wiring and solenoid resistance and other control / feedback to/from PCM/tranny .. the connector if the same means GM did no changing. so it will work. take pictures of connectors then you compare see if the same .
no second gear maybe the a/b solenoids . replace both .
