Transmission overfilled causing firm shifts?

A couple months ago I had the Sun Gear Shell in my 4L60E break. I gave the mechanic a Beast brand part to replace it with.

Ever since, the truck seems to shift a little too firm, especially from 1st to 2nd. I've checked the fluid and it does appear to be overfilled. About 1/2 inch past the full line when hot, engine running and in park.

Just wanted to make sure this could be the issue before I take the truck back to the shop. If it's typical of the Beast brand sun shell I won't worry about it. I can't remove the drain plug without stripping it so I'll let it be the shops problem.

the fluid level is too high when the fluid has air bubbles in it .

however when the engine is at temp, vehicle on level ground like a gas station it should never be over the fill mark...the reason is if your tranny gets hot the fluid could get to expand to a level that causes air to form in the fluid///when this occurs transmission failure is rapid...

I have had some owners comment on aftermarket tranny parts that do give harsh upshifts , this is to reduce slippage ...

the fluid being overfilled is to simply suck it out with a hand pump and a long 5/16 / 3/8 plastic tubing connected to it ...rammed down the dip stick ...

on your drain plug ,,you will need to remove the pan and heat the plug up with a torch until it glows red slightly..then with a 6 point socket and heavy gloves unscrew....GM used permenent lock tight on this plug ..

The Beast sun shell is NOT going to cause the transmission to harsh shift. I would get with the rebuilder and find out whether he made any other upgrades that would cause the harsh 1-2. Things like a Corvette servo, billet servo, shift kit, upgraded boost valve etc. I know some guys that would block out the accumulator causing firmer shifts. Have you had the computer scanned for codes?? The computer might have found a problem and is commanding full line pressure from the EPC. As far as the fluid level is concerned, 1/2" over the full mark is too much fluid. You need to get some of the excess out.
