1/24 Fujimi Initial D FC3S Savanna RX-7 About the kit: This is the final version of Fujimi's variation of the 2nd generation RX-7, aka, the FC. Since it's a re-issue of the old RX-7 kit with added parts, the quality is not up to date with newer models. The kit include many extra parts such as bumpers and spoilers. It can be build into any form beside the obvious choice (Initial D).
Construction: By far this model took me the longest time to finish since I started making car models. 9 months! Many details were made wrong on the body, things like the front bumper. An aftermarket dress up kit is available from Gesse but I didn't want to pay $40 + shipping for a bumper, real spoiler, and other misc parts. So I made these parts from scratch with epoxy putty. The hardest part was to re-create the moldings that surrounded the car. Fujimi had them curved in instead of sticking out like the real car. Wheels are Fujimi's RS Watanabe to complete the car in Initial D 2nd stage's spec (FC3S vs EVO III battle).
Final thoughts: Overall a pretty simple kit but lacking details and quality due to its old original design. If I were to do it again, I might consider buying the Gesse upgrade kit.
