Tamiya VW New Beetle Very easy Tamiya model to build. Would be a excellent choice for someone who is just starting out building kits. Painting is easy as there are very little parts and very straight forward. The model is painted with Tamiya TS-53 Deep Metallic Blue which I think looks a really good looking colour. It looks dark but in the sun light it looks light and has a nice deep look to it. Its not the standard VW colour as I wanted a custom look to this model. Larger wheels (18 inch) were ordered from www.hlj.com to give it a much better look. I was after a slammed look to it. The wheels came with nice big brake discs also. Next up was a major lowering job to go with the wheels so it didn't have a 4X4 look. Shocks etc were cut. Only major problem struck was the wheels would not fit high enough up inside the arch even after doing all this. So I had to cut away some of the inner guards to get it just right which took a lot of time to get it looking like they were meant to be cut. Plenty of sanding and trimming to get right. In the end I'm pretty happy with the end look. Back
