1966 Shelby GT350H

1/25 1966 Shelby GT350H

The inspiration for this project came from the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds". The movie features a `67 Shelby Mustang, but it was more feasible to do a `66 version. I started with Monogram`s Shelby Mustang Cobra GT350H. The front end was from the GT350R kit from a few years back, and the ground effects along the bottom were formed from strip styrene. The wheels are Pegasus "daggers", and the tires are from a new Revell C5 kit which fit perfectly on the wheels. I took the nitrous bottle from a pro-mod kit, and wired it with detail master braided line and small wire from radio shack. The nitrous lines run up to the engine compartment to nitrous solenoids cut from aluminum tubing.

All the black stripes were painted over top several coats of Tamiya light gunmetal spray. It was then wet sanded, and finsihed with a few coats of Tamiya clear. I then wetsanded it again, and rubbed it out with Tamiya compound. This one one a first place at local contest in the "custom" class, and also won the "best model of the month" contest on the internet.
