1/12 Tamiya Yamaha YZF-R1 '99 This is Tamiya's Yamaha YZF-R1 bike done in the '99 red black and white livery. Very striking color combination in my opinion, enhanced by the decals. I left the frame pieces coated in the satin-chrome finish that they came in, and everything else I either painted by the instructions or got the proper color from reference pics. This was a very simple, friendly kit. From start to finish it took less than two weeks for the bike itself (not including cowling :) ), and even that was hampered because I spent a lot of time searching for a lost engine piece that I ended up scratchbuilding. If you're looking to venture into the world of 1/12 motorcycles, this would be an excellent kit to start at. Back
