Im going to get a Skunk2 intake manifold for my d16z6. Does anyone know how much horsepower i might get? I would also like to know how hard it is to install? I was thinking about getting a fuel rail also, does that affect your gas mileage alot? What kind of performance might i see out of that? Should i get aem or str? Sorrry bout all the questions.
thanks
Ben

I'm pretty sure, could be wrong , that they don't make it. Skunk2 intake manifold's are Type R replica's so...........

I've heard rumors of a skunk2 intake, haven't seen it, but I've heard of its existence. I know that Edlebrock makes one for imports now. With about a 30HP gain at 6500-7200 RPM's. I would get the new fuel rail and pump/filter. You will lose miles per gallon, but you'll have a pretty good gain in high end torque and HP. It shouldnt be too hard to install, make sure you have all the gaskets, replacement bolts (if necessary), and make sure all your hoses and lines n such are long enough to get on the new manifold.
Might want to have a shop fine tune it once you've got it on, that way you're not running too rich or lean and burning up plugs and the like.

yes they do make them for the d16z6. Im ordering mine tonight along with some Sparco mechanics gloves. Does anyone know if its hard to install? Should it be pretty simple? www.Nopionline.com has the intake manifold for d16z6 for $311

ah yes, the afc. isnt that like a chip er something to add to your ecu that picks up any modification changes in the mix? i really dont know.
and yeah, the glove thing, good one.

It's " like " an EMS. You can richen or lean out your fuel, push your vtec engagement point forward or back ,check sensors, record runs, and a bunch of sh**. Like I said, damn good investment. Highly suggest if you have a chipped ecu. My ecu makes me run rich as hell so........

So what hp gains will you see from the intake? about 30 hp like the edelbrock one???

I've been tryin to find the thread, but to no avail. Someone on here has replied in a thread that the Skunk2 intake manifold by design gives about as much HP but low end HP and torque as opposed to high end. How this works I am not sure.
Check out the Skunk2 website, see if they have anything on it:
http://www.first1.com/productscat/horsepower/manifold/intake/skunk2.html
they list their manifolds for 94-01 B18c1; 90-91 B18b-A; 97-01 CRV B20B; 92-93 B17A; and 94-97 B16a
so they exist for others as well.
happy hunting
