Funny that you'd ask this in a Honda section. Funnier that I've actually done this swap myself. My advice: if you're a beginner or intermediate with cars, don't bother. You'll be in way over your head. There aren't really any write-ups on this swap and that's most likely because it's far to involved to give a step by step. To put it briefly you'll need to: make a custom Frankenstein engine wire harness that involves practically memorizing both the Celica wiring and the MR2 wiring, make custom shift linkage, re-rout the clutch lines, make hybrid axles, make hybrid mounts, custom piping, cut a hole in the firewall, and re-make the main power circuit for the chassis.

It looks much easier than it was. Nine months and about 5 grand later...

I do not exaggerate, this is part of the harness that is in the car that all had to be sorted, organized and spliced. And yes I wear sandals in my garage. Because I'm that badass.

thank you for posting,we are a honda shop probably had honda on my mind. "God works in mysterious ways" we can fab most anything from engine parts to suspention so that part is no problem i am concerned about the drivability this must be done as if it were a factory option i have not seen the car, money seems to be no option so far.the shift linkage is it cable or rods? wiring i understand how tuff that can be at least i would suppose that the engine wiring doesn't have to link in with the rest of the car as if it were a later model. oh by the way your work looks very good, engine looks like it sets in real nice. i'm not any where near that baaad bottom but my floor is heated does that count?

Well, there's a crucial decision to make. Option one is use a 5SFE Camry manual transmission. Easier but it's not a very good trans. Option two is use the MR2 transmission. It's LSD thus way better, but bigger and you'll need to make an entirely custom rear mount as the added size of the LSD trans covers the stock mounting location. It does rest nicely on the cross-member though. As far as stock drive-ability though, I would say it's possible, but this car is basically a race car. We removed power-steering, A/C, heat, basically everything. You could easily keep the heat but the A/C and P/S would require a lot more custom fabrication to keep. The shift linkage is cable. If you live in Texas you're more than welcome to come look at it.

what trans. did you use? cable shift is good. i'm not possitive but i would guess ac and power steering are a must. i live in indiana don't ask why, i would like to see your car i look at the pictures alot seems i could get a little more room if i turned the turbo the other way around. what do you think? where are you at in Texas? i may do some volinteere work there at ati institute in Big Sandy.
