Civics with b16a engines are slow. They'll get around 26/21 mpg. The b18c1 isn't much better, it has the same hp as the jdm b16a (170hp) and the jdm version has 180hp. But it does have more torque. The next step up is the b18c5, the Integra Type R engine; 200hp. A couple steps down is the b18b, the integra ls, rs, and gs engine; with 140hp and slightly more torque than the other b18's. But you're not going to get much torque out of a Honda engine, at least not without turbo. Honestly it depends on what you consider to be decent power, and how much you're willing to spend. And gas mileage will depend on the weight of the car and which transmission you go with (best to worst: b18b, b18c1, b16a,b18c5). But you'll lose acceleration if you go with the longer tranny.

oh, it will be quick, but not fast... there a big differance there that most people get confused... and coming from a domestic V8 it might be a little disappointing.. and a b series is a great platform to make A LOT of power the only real constraint is your wallet. get a b series and a basic turbo kit and youll whoop most stock v8s.... and get double the gas mileage
