excessive smoke

76 Roadster

I have just purchased a 76 MGB Roadster and the problem I have is after driving for about 1 or 2 miles it starts blowing blue smoke. Especially after I stop and take off. When the engine is cold there is no smoke and it runs fine. I wonder if after running a while the crank case pressure builds up and forces oil the into the cylinders. Can anyone help?

There should be a vent hose from the valve cover to a vapor cannister in the rear of the engine compartment and another from the front tappet cover to the carburetor or air cleaner. We need to know if the emissions equipment and original carburetor is on the car and how the venting is hooked up. If everything is original, remove the spark plugs and see if all the plugs have oil on them. Post again with additional information.
