I thought she did a hell of a job, even with all the problems she had today, i was routing for her all the way.

The following is from People magazine June 6, 2005 about Danica Patrick on page 126:

"She does not want to be the next Anna Kournikova," says racing team co-owner Bobby Rahal of the attractive-and capable-Patick."

another quote

"A self-described fitness fanactic, the 5ˆ", 100-lb. Patrick does about an hour of cardio daily, running on an elliptical machine. Up to three times a week she spends an hour lifting weights. "Most of the movements I make as a racecar driver have a lot to do with my shoulders and core," says Patrick, one of the tinest drivers ever. "So I focus on my upper body." Patrick says she's also "very particular" about fueling her body and rarely strays from a limited menu of high-protein, low-fat fare."

yep i was there today, in turn 3. quite an awesome race. shes definatly not a bad driver, she just didnt have the car to do it, wheldon have a fucking rocket. i was actually rooting for franchitti because i had him in a pool, i thought i was gonna win for a while. ive always liked buddy lazier tho and it was surprising to see how well he did even tho he had a chevy motor. that car must have had really good handling.

Didn't she do some bikini shots for Maxim or FHM?

Still, an excellent racer and has an excellent chance of getting into a highly lucrative career elsewhere, if she wants.

I never was too happy with Spike TV using her for 5 seconds of eye candy here and there in week end television.
Seriously, give her a TV special on racing where her intellegence and expertise can be informative, instead of saying "Stay tuned! Up next Stacy goes back to work on Copperhead"

Danica was definitely impressive, it won't take long at all for her to get a victory. However, I wonder if her weight could have played a part in her speed. The theory I've heard is that since she is 50 pounds lighter than the next lightest driver would make her 2-3 miles per hour faster, because the IRL doesn't make light drivers add weight. Danica has skill for sure, but it'd be interesting to know whether or not this theory is true.

I don't see why a lightweight driver needs to add weight to his car to make it more "fair."

The IRL is the only major series that does not require the driver to weigh a certain amount and if they don't, require them to add weight to get to that amount. Whether you "see" or not, being 50 lbs under weight is a major advantage. Even if Danica was required to add 50 lbs of weight to her car, she still has an advantage because that is 50 lbs she can spread out a bit to potentially help the balance of the car. Is it an unfair advantage? Not neccesarily, but it is definitely an advantage. Personal bias doesn't change the facts.

There is no way in hell Dan Wheldon weighs 150 pounds...I'm taller than him, built the same way he is, and I weigh 147 on a good day...I'd put dan wheldon around 135 or 140 lbs...it's just chauvanist jerks starting shit up to opress the opposite sex, as usual. Robby gordon says that Danica Patrick's weight advantage is good for 2 seconds a lap at indy...which is the biggest pile of bullshit I've ever heard....50 pounds is roughly 3% of an IRL car's weight...if it were anything over 5%, I'd say it MIGHT have an impact...come on guys, give her a break already.
