http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/hw/seeke.aspx?seek_code=FSH0065
Are the Auto clears urethane? If so whats the difference between the other Urethane one?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Here is the answer.
http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/hw/seeke.aspx?seek_code=FSH0068
*'2 bottles of Auto Clear' set
http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/hw/seeke.aspx?seek_code=FSH0067
*'Auto Clear and thinner' set
http://hobbyworld.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/hw/seeke.aspx?seek_code=FSH0065
*'Urethane Clear GP1 and thinner for urethane' set
'Urethane Clear' and 'Auto Clear' are quite different.
'Auto Clear' is acrylic paint as same as Mr.Color.
'Urethane Clear' is urethane paint. acrylic or enamel paints get dry but urethane paint is hardening paint. it gets very hard
and never damage to decals.
so I advise to use it for big scale model like 1/12 kit or many decals model like racing car. especially old Tamiya racing car model.
'cause Tamiya's decal is very delicate and fragile.
**thinning rate
-Finisher's color paint -> color 1 : thinner 2 to 3. it's up to air compressor's power.
-Auto Clear -> clear 1 : thinner 3
-Urethane Clear -> it uses with hardening gel. clear 10 : gel 1
it doesn't need to thinning. but I always thinning 30% with urethane thinner.
Perhaps you can use another acrylic thinner but I always use Finisher's thinner.
You can get beautiful shine with Auto Clear and beautiful color with their paints.
some of you know I adore Finisher's Pure Red. 'Fine Silver' is wonderful too.
I can't live without Finisher's paints.

Thanks Kunta I really appreciate your answer. I actually ordered the Urethane GP1. Which one do you normally use? Auto Clear or Urethane?
Can the Urethane be sprayed over Acrylics or Lacquer? Or do you have to use Urethane bascoats?
Thanks

I'm using Auto Clear usually. and you can apply urethane clear over acrylic, lacquer, enamel paint.

I'm new to the Forum and I've just read this thread about Finisher's GP1. I'm interested in this product, but can someone tell me if it's an isocyanate based two-pack urethane? And if so, what safety precautions are necessary?

Yes, use a respirator. GP1 is the best stuff going IMHO.

Many thanks for the advice. I thought it probably was. But that makes me even more puzzled as to why a Japanese modeller on YouTube uses it in an open work room with no protection! See the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqct0IvFNMM
(And fast forward to 7:30)
Any comments?!

It's perfectly safe stuff as long as you wear the right spray mask and preferably have an extractor as well. You really don't want to be breathing the stuff in. Spraying in an open room with no mask and no extractor is suicide. He won't feel the effects straight away but in a few years his lungs won't be working too well..!!!

I've seen that video many times. I like that he casually opens the window as if that is all that needs to be done to protect from the spray. He also appears to be a smoker so maybe that is part of his thinking.
My father in law who is dying from lung disease due to not taking care with painting/respiration/smoking.
2 part urethane clear coats are nasty, wear a respirator.

Please could you tell me what you use to clean your airbrush after using these isocyanate based urethane clear coats (e.g. GP1)?
Many thanks.

I use the same thinner that you use for thinning the clear coat. Make sure you do a good job flushing it through because if any of the clear is left to set in the airbrush you will never get it out.

Thanks for that. But in order to save on the thinner that comes with the clear coat, is there a generic solvent equivalent that one could use instead...?

You can use regular and cheap cellulose thinner or gun cleaner as it is more commonly known. Most auto body paint suppliers will carry one in their stock, usually 5 litres costs me about £4 and lasts forever.
