MOTY 2018 Announcement

I think its time to bring AF modelling forum back to being the best place online for scale model building.

(Drum roll)

As such, I'm making the announcement that there will be AFMOTY 2018 at the end of this year.

As before to quality you would have to post a WIP-thread or a completed model thread in the gallery to qualify. I will see if now would be a good time to incorporate some of the suggestions from the past regarding the contest. But the gist remains the same - so get let's get on building!

I'm all in. Have a plenty to choose from to start WIP on AF.

Btw, should this WIP be exclusive to AF or I can transfer here already started WIP from other place?

Great!
Don't have to be exclusive, I don't believe this has ever been the condition.
You can share the same WIP from somewhere else, as long as it is featured here, it qualifies.

Great news, and thanks for organizing again.

You bet. I will need some help when we get there, but will round that up when time comes. I'll post here or elsewhere.

Well I'm in. I have a kit I just ordered that I've been wanting to do a full detail build of for a long time and it and some other goodies for it are enroute so I'll definitely participate.

I always liked the banner prizes for this content. Seeing them in people's post that they won a past AFMOTY was a nice touch IMO.

I would be glad to participate, but I am afraid that I have passed by my long-term projects.

As a newbie here I'm excited to be part of this new contest. I've seen the old ones and lot of great stuff in there hope my build can stack up.

It would be a miracle if Mikhail could participate. For him personally, I would make an exception and accept a model from him not just built in 2018, but any completed model he has a WIP or a gallery on AF. How is that for a motivation/challenge Misha?

I've been thinking about tweaking the rules for the MOTY a bit this time around, and wanted to get your input on this.

In the past, only one one model per member was allowed, this time around, I'm thinking to lift this requirement, and allow more than one model to be entered. In order to be fair, and for all to have equal opportunities, I propose to allow two models to be entered, preferably one road entry, one motorsport entry, but could be both of the same. The reasoning behind this is to :

1. Increase overall number of entries to make the thing more competitive.
2. Try not to leave behind some of the better builds from the same builder that may choose one of the models over the other for their entry while they wish they could enter both.
3. Allowing people who build both road and race cars to showcase their skill in both areas.

If the both models from the same builder end up being on the podium (1, 2, or 3rd place), only the higher placing entry would be considered and awarded, with runner-up taking the next prize.

Let me know what you think. Also, if there are any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

Alex

Is my Porsche 997 Gt3r Falken eligible for this?

I like this idea. Checking back in with this forum lately has definitely spurred me on to finish a build this year and finally enter

I will be entering, and glad to hear this is going to happen again! Thanks to everyone who is putting this on!

I like the more than one entry rule. That should make things interesting. Although, I am only building about one a year now, so don`t expect more than one from me. :D

I like the idea of 2 different subjects per person.
Definitely worth a try.

It doesn't have to even be different subjects, but would be cool if it is.
Or, maybe if you build in different scales, enter that instead. Or, it could be a car and a bike, or a truck.

Hello, Alex!
Can I participate if I started build in 2009 year and finished this year?

Hello, Alex!
Can I participate if I started build in 2009 year and finished this year?

Yes, as long as you have a WIP thread or a completed model thread here on AF that was finished in 2018.

O-key! I have not much time to finish a WIP and show the result.

Just so there are no confusion - the contest is open for entries. Send them my way!

360spider

I need two-three volunteers to be judges for the contest.
Have to be available to count votes from about 10th of January through the end of the month. The only requirement is to check AF daily for messages and keeping track of votes spreadsheet. Please PM if interested.
Thanks!
